Blood reserves in France and the Rhône department are dangerously low as the end-of-year celebrations approach, the Ministry of Health and the EFS are sounding the alarm.
With the end of year holidays approaching and the start of the Christmas holidays, the Ministry of Health and Prevention is sounding the alarm about the low blood supply in the country. Today the stock is at its lowest e “Every day, 1,500 blood donations are missing to meet the needs of patients,” says the government. According to the French blood institute (EFS) “Less than 80,000 blood bags are available, when more than 100,000 are needed“nationally.
For several weeks the EFS blood collections have recorded a drop in attendance, so much so that the organization has decreed the“Red alert”.

Spaces dedicated to Lyon
To donate your blood, plasma or platelets, you can go to the Maison du don, located in Confluence, from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 to 19:00, and on Saturday morning, from 9:00 to 13:00. A mobile collection will also be organized on December 28, from 2.30pm to 7pm, in the citizens area of the 8th arrondissement town hall.
To donate blood you must be in good health, be between the ages of 18 and 70 and weigh at least 50 kilos. Register directly on EFS website.
