The Breton coastal sector, in the south of the Loire-Atlantique will pass, this Thursday, May 19, in drought red alert. This level of crisis will lead to restrictions on the use of water.
Withdrawals from watercourses and bodies of water prohibited
Pauline Sainte, head of the strategy office in the “water and environment” department at the Loire-Atlantique Departmental Directorate for Territories and the Sea, explains: “A certain number of uses will be prohibited from the surface water resource, i.e. withdrawals in streams or water bodies. This mainly concerns agricultural uses with prohibitions on irrigating, in particular field crops, cereals for example”.
For individuals, samples from wells will be supervised, including for professionals, in particular for watering lawns and gardens.
