The fire occurred in a recycling facility located next to the Pelitli Village Cemetery in Gebze district of Kocaeli.
According to the information obtained, a fire broke out at the facility for a reason not yet learned. Those who saw the flames rising from the facility immediately reported the situation to 112 Emergency Aid teams. Many firefighters and gendarmerie teams were sent to the scene upon notice. The teams, who came to the scene soon after, started work to extinguish the fire.
With the intervention of firefighters, the flames could be brought under control in approximately 1 hour and put out. While there were no casualties or injuries in the fire, there was a great deal of material damage in the facility. The teams launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
