Rector University of Antwerp wants ban on sale of shafts

The rector of the University of Antwerp, Herman van Goethem, wants an explicit ban on the sale of shafts. That writes Het Nieuwsblad. Such a shaft sale is a ritual in which members of a sorority buy a shaft by auction and let him or her perform tasks for a few days. According to the rector, there is still too much room for interpretation in the current baptism charter and a ban should be introduced.
