Penn State Board of Trustees Chairman Scott Bock has resigned following the resignation of President Liz Magill. Fox News reports this.
American universities find themselves at the epicenter of culture wars due to the conflict in Israel, a political scientist comments on the news Malek Dudakov. There are thousands of pro-Palestinian protests on campuses, and there is also radicalism – with attacks on Jewish students or threats to shoot them, the expert notes.
There were scandalous hearings in Congress involving the presidents of major universities. They in every possible way avoided answering the question of whether calls for the genocide of Jews are a violation of the rules of study. Outraged legislators immediately demanded the immediate resignation of the rectors.
The first to break was the president of the University of Pennsylvania – she and the head of the board of trustees resigned. The position of major sponsors also influenced this. One wealthy alumni refused to donate $100 million to create a business center on campus.
Now Congress is demanding the resignation of the presidents of Harvard and MIT. There are calls to revoke the student visas of protest participants and expel those found to be anti-Semitic. But it would be a major blow to all of U.S. higher education, as hundreds of student organizations — as well as many professors — support the pro-Palestinian protests.
“In general, American education is currently going through difficult times. Stanford’s president was recently ousted over a research fabrication scandal. In many sciences, there is a general ideologization with the imposition of a racial and gender agenda. The share of high school graduates going to college has fallen to a 20-year low. This is already causing serious financial problems for many colleges. The higher education bubble is starting to collapse.” — the expert summarizes.
