Recruiting via clubhouse? The future belongs to the brave!

Exciting talks – beyond the “Millionaire Breakfast Club”

When it comes to new platforms, I always ask myself: Do I want to use them privately or professionally? Professionally – for me that has been about 15 years: in the area of employer branding and recruiting. Is this perhaps a new source of networking and exchange? Can we also address applicants via this channel and present our company as an attractive employer? After all, that’s my job here at TÜV Rheinland.

Think of the clubhouse as a kind of live podcast. All kinds of topics are discussed and discussed in countless rooms. At first I listened purely out of private interest and got lost in my first session at the “Millionaire Breakfast Club”. Somehow that wasn’t really my thing, and so I turned around and looked for professional topics. I quickly found what I was looking for here. Many colleagues from my professional network were very active from the start, and there are many exciting talks and topics. As far as I’ve noticed so far, there is more discussion among themselves and not so much with applicants. I’m curious to see how it will develop. Some steep theses have already been put forward. For example, that Clubhouse could replace job advertisements in the future. I found that very daring – but it is definitely more fun to listen to than millionaires at breakfast.

What do applicants really want?

And of course it’s great when progressive ideas are expressed directly and maybe implemented soon. But wait a minute: Wasn’t it the same with Snapchat, TikTok and Co.? It often seems a bit hasty to me, almost forced and not thought through to the end. Quickly knock everything out of crazy ideas before someone else does. The further from reality, the better. However, we must not lose sight of these. Our job is to communicate with applicants and, ideally, to respond to their wishes. And is that really what applicants want? To be approached by employers on the umpteenth communication platform? I do not think so. And we know that too.
