Houston Man Found Alive After 8-Year Disappearance
HOUSTON, Texas – Rudy Farias, now 25 years old, has been found alive and is currently recovering in the hospital following his mysterious disappearance eight years ago in northwest Houston. Farias’ mother shared pictures of him in a hospital bed and revealed that someone had called 911 after finding him unresponsive outside a church.
According to his mother, Farias was discovered with numerous cuts and bruises all over his body, as well as blood in his hair, leading her to believe that he had been severely abused and beaten during his time away.
The then-17-year-old Farias went missing on March 6, 2015, after his two dogs returned from a walk without him. His family reported him missing, but despite an extensive search, he was not found.
At the time of his disappearance, Farias had been diagnosed with depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and anxiety. Texas EquuSearch, a search and rescue organization, appealed to the public for assistance in locating him, noting that he may have been disoriented and had not been taking his medication.
The search for Farias was temporarily suspended on March 10, 2015, as authorities worked to gather more information. However, it resumed two days later and concluded on March 13, 2015, with authorities expressing gratitude to the searchers who had braved rain-soaked fields in their efforts to find Farias.
On Sunday, July 2, 2023, authorities confirmed that Farias had been located and was safe. However, his mother revealed that he is currently unresponsive and only speaks a few words before retreating into a fetal position. She acknowledged that his healing journey would be long but expressed gratitude that her son had been found alive.
