Records, anniversaries, curiosities: the 3rd matchday in numbers

Robert Lewandowski sets several records against Hertha, Manuel Neuer grabs a new Bundesliga record and some super youngsters are making their way into the history books – the best numbers for the 3rd matchday.

1 – Frankfurt took the lead in the 1-1 draw in Bielefeld for the first time this season, and Arminia fell behind for the first time.

2 – While 1. FC Köln had no home win for the entire first half of the season, the 2-1 win against Bochum in their second home game now gave them their second win.

2 – For the first time, FC Augsburg underwent two own goals in a Bundesliga game in a 4-1 draw against Leverkusen.

3 – Arminia Bielefeld was only unbeaten in the Bundesliga for the fourth time after the first three match days of a season, the last time being in 2007/08 under Ernst Middendorp.

3 – For the first time in 27 years, SC Freiburg won three Bundesliga games in a row against VfB Stuttgart – this time they won 3-2. The Breisgauers have been unbeaten against the Swabians for five Bundesliga games.

3,9 – Patrick Wimmer scored the most unlikely goal on matchday 3 (xG value = 0.039)

6 – Borussia Dortmund celebrated their sixth Bundesliga home win in a row with a 3-2 win against Hoffenheim.

6 – Mainz have six points on their account after three game days with the 3-0 win against Greuther Fürth, in the last two seasons the 05ers were without a point at this point in time.

7 – At 18 years and 117 days, Florian Wirtz is now the youngest player in Bundesliga history to score seven goals. He replaced the previous record holder Timo Werner.

7 – Jamal Musiala became the second youngest player to score his 7th Bundesliga goal (18 years, 183 days) in Bayern’s 5-0 win against Hertha BSC. Younger than Musiala was only Florian Wirtz, who had just scored his seventh goal shortly before (see above).

7 – Seven points after three match days mean the best start to the season for SC Freiburg in the history of the Bundesliga.
