It-sa achieved new records with over 25,000 trade visitors and almost 900 exhibitors. From innovative start-ups to international security authorities and industry-specific forums – the event is considered a central meeting point for the IT security industry and offered a comprehensive program.

With over 25,800 trade visitors from 65 countries (2023: 19,449, 55 countries) and 897 exhibitors (2023: 795), the it-sa Expo&Congress 2024 in Nuremberg set new records. The number of visitors increased by a third underlines the growing importance of the event for international exchange in the cybersecurity industry. “The it-sa Expo&Congress is thus further expanding its position as the most important meeting point for personal exchange among IT security experts. The […] The number of visitors confirms how important the it-sa Expo&Congress is as a meeting point for international exchange on cybersecurity,” emphasized Frank Venjakob, Executive Director of it-sa, at the end of the trade fair.

Strong international presence and new directions for start-ups

The trade fair also gained particular relevance through joint stands from Israel, Austria and the Czech Republic as well as the participation of important representatives from politics and international security authorities. The “ATHENE Startup Award UP24@it-sa”, awarded to the German company LocateRisk, highlighted the innovative strength of young companies in the field of cybersecurity. The start-up from Darmstadt won the award with automated risk analyzes that are intended to support companies in preventive protective measures.

Not an easy question to answer, right? This is certainly what connect professionals interlocutors on the solution provider side certainly thought on October 22nd at it-sa. Nevertheless, some people dared and dared to answer. Others preferred to answer the question “If cybersecurity were a superhero power, what would yours be and why?” In addition to the tongue-in-cheek questions, it was of course also about the important questions on the cybersecurity horizon – for example about threats, (regulatory) challenges, implementation errors and channel potential.

At this point, many thanks to all interview partners for their spontaneous willingness to respond in the hustle and bustle of the trade fair; Many thanks to representatives from Tenable, Sophos, Zscaler, Check Point Software, Secunet, TXOne Networks, Cancom, NCP Engineering, G Data CyberDefense, Veeam Software, WatchGuard Technologies, Hornetsecurity, ExtraHop and DriveLock SE.

The result or the answers will soon be available via LinkedIn and on the connect professional video page.

Diverse program for specialist audiences

This year’s program with around 400 lectures and discussions offered trade visitors extensive insights into current topics and challenges in cybersecurity. For example, the new EU rules for the IT security directive NIS2 as well as technical solutions and strategies to ward off increasing threats were discussed. A highly acclaimed keynote, “Quo vadis cyber risks?”, by Peter Hacker, highlighted how companies should identify threats early and anchor IT security at management level.

The importance of personal exchange between cybersecurity authorities was also underlined by a meeting between the Federal Office for Information Security and the European Union for Cybersecurity (ENISA). The Bavarian State Minister Albert Füracker also hosted a festive reception that brought together representatives of the Ministry of the Interior and various IT security institutions.

The accompanying Congress@it-sa began on October 21st and offered comprehensive specialist knowledge for various industries and user groups. The annual meeting of IT security officers in states and municipalities as well as the series of lectures by the Federal Office for Information Security with the title “30 Years of IT-Grundschutz: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow” were among the highlights, and there were further lectures, workshops and panel discussions for example, instead of cyber resilience, NIS2 or the new AI regulation.

With the it-sa 365 platform, the trade fair offers a year-round information offering, which had 18,300 users this year. The platform offers access to webinars, expert interviews and market overviews and promotes knowledge exchange in areas such as KRITIS and OT security.

For those interested in the it-sa Expo&Congress 2024, which took place from October 22nd to 24th, forum contributions were broadcast online and entertaining expert interviews were streamed live from the it-sa@home studio. It-sa 365 thus offered a comprehensive live program for everyone who could not be at the it-sa Expo&Congress themselves. The interactive hall plan and functions such as searching for exhibitors or products as well as matchmaking functions provided orientation. During the trade fair, around 4,600 active users used the digital platform’s offerings. A digital review will be available from December 5, 2024 itsa365.de ready.
