The Long Journey of Developing 5G Technology

It took a long journey made by Vivo in preparing for 5G technology innovation. Over the past 5 years, Vivo has proven itself to be the Top 10 most influential brand for 5G standards in the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). It is an international telecommunications consortium that organizes continuous platform collaboration.
The 3GPP Summit 2017 which took place in Croatia became an important point in the long journey of 5G presence. vivo also submitted more than 5,000 proposals to the 3GPP forum and managed to lead in 15 technical features and get approval for 3 technical projects.
Vivo’s move continues by announcing its collaboration with China Mobile in the China Mobile 5G Device Forerunner Initiative event at the 2018 GTI Summit which took place during the Mobile World Congress.
This program has the goal of releasing the first batch of 5G networks as a test and support process for developing 5G technology itself. Through this event, Vivo also announced the launch of pre-commercial 5G devices in 2019 and officially presented 5G commercial smartphones in 2020.
vivo has been supported by a network of 10 R&D centers in various countries globally since this year. It aims to focus more on developing and providing technology that suits consumer needs. More than 100 global experts who work in the field of research support Vivo’s steps. Vivo now holds more than 3,000 5G technology innovation patents.
