Arnautis himself was so enthusiastic about his team’s morale that he wanted to reward himself as well. “I’ll have a beer first and I promise everyone that I’ll have at least one more ouzo tonight,” said the 41-year-old. The entire team, which is lagging behind in terms of sport in the Bundesliga season, is “incredibly happy and grateful”.
The young winning goal scorer was thrilled. “After the final whistle, I had to do it myself,” said the 17-year-old, who praised sports director Siegfried Dietrich as a “top talent”. For Küver, the semifinals were “an absolute highlight game and also a very big goal”.
Now an even bigger game is waiting at the end of May. Dietrich is pleased that “we can now represent the eagle family in Cologne in the premiere year”. The Hessians last won the title in the 2013/14 season.
