The Employment Agency reports record unemployment in a number of municipalities. It is the highest in the municipality of Dimovo, Vidin, where in June of this year unemployment was over 67%. For comparison, in the same month last year it was 62%, while in the previous three years it hovered around 33-43%.
The next highest unemployment rate is the municipality of Makresh, again in the Vidin region, where nearly 60 percent of the residents are unemployed. Here too, in the last two years, the unemployment rate has been twice as high as in June 2021 and 2022, when it was around 34%.
Unemployment is over 45% in the municipalities of Kainardja and Ruzhintsi, and over 42% in Kaolinovo, according to the data presented by the Minister of Labor and Social Policy Ivaylo Ivanov in response to a parliamentary question. One in three is unemployed in the municipalities of Strumyani, Hairedin, Chuprene, Yakimovo and Yakoruda.
At the same time, unemployment in Yambol is only 2.8 percent, and in Shumen it is 3.88 percent. Below 3 percent are the unemployed in the municipalities of Chavdar, Chelopech, Tsarevo, Stara Zagora, Sopot.
Despite expectations, unemployment is not the lowest in Sofia, where it is – 1.62% for June this year, and in the municipality of Pomorie – 1.45%. The unemployment rate is below 2 percent in Varna, Burgas, Nessebar, Bozhurishte and Nessebar. The average unemployment rate for the country is 5.33, reports the Employment Agency.
