The Kop van Schouwen is usually the area with the most bites in Zeeland and that is again the case, but many people have also been bitten in the Manteling (Walcheren). There is a clear link between nature reserves (where people walk and cycle) and tick bites.
It is called a signbeet, but actually the animal, which is related to the spider, digs into the skin of its victim. This can lead in particular to Lyme, a chronic fatigue disease.
