In March 2023, the indexation of pensions and pensions will be carried out, which will be record-breaking due to the very high inflation. The hypothesized indexation index will even amount to 113.8 per cent, furthermore people with lower pensions will be able to count on the indexation of the quotas. Summary
The Sejm adopted an amendment to the Law on Indexation of Pensions and Pensions. In 2023, senior citizens will receive higher benefits of at least PLN 250, a the lowest old-age pension will increase to PLN 1,588.44. This means that retirement benefits will increase by 13.8%. This figure is certain because it derives from the parameters set by the budget law for 2023, the draft of which was approved by the government.
– This two-component indexation mechanism is especially beneficial for people receiving the lowest benefits, because they are guaranteed that they will receive a higher pension or disability pension of PLN 250. This is a record increase. It is our duty to ensure adequate living conditions for older Poles, which we satisfy every day. This is testified not only by the historically high indexation of benefits adopted by the Sejm, but also by other elements – already permanently included in the senior policy – such as the payment of the thirteenth and fourteenth pension. We have allocated more than PLN 116 billion for these three instruments alone in 2019-2022, said Marlena Maląg, Minister of Family and Social Policy.
- In 2023, the lowest old-age pension, invalidity pension, survivor’s pension and social pension will increase to PLN 1,588.44 from PLN 1,338.44.
- The guarantee of an amount not less than PLN 250 will apply to pensioners who have worked for at least 20 years – in the case of women and 25 years – in the case of men, entitle them to the payment of the lowest pension guaranteed by the state.
- The lower pension for partial incapacity for work will increase to PLN 1,191.33 from PLN 1,003.83 in 2022.
- The amount of indexation in the case of disability pensions for partial incapacity for work and group III disability pension will not be less than PLN 187.50, and for persons receiving a partial old-age pension, the indexation cannot be less than PLN 125.
- The indexation will also apply to old-age and invalidity pensions for individual farmers, uniformed services, transitional pensions, teachers’ allowances and supplementary parental benefits.
