Record temperatures on New Year’s Eve: 20 degrees in Monaco

The German Weather Service (DWD) has New Year’s Eve in Bavaria Record the measured values. Monaco has exceeded the 20 degree limit. This was once again well above the previous New Year’s record of 15.6 degrees, measured in the Bavarian capital in 2021.

It was even hotter in Wielenbach in the Upper Bavarian district of Weilheim-Schongau. There, it was 20.8 degrees hotter than ever in a Bavarian city on New Year’s Eve. The highest temperature measured on New Year’s Eve in Bavaria so far was 16.8 degrees in Kempten in 2021.

Four locations in Germany with more than 20 degrees on New Year’s Eve

According to the DWD, four locations across Germany managed to exceed 20 degrees on New Year’s Eve. The other two were in Baden-Württemberg: in Müllheim near Freiburg and in Ohlsbach it was 20.3 degrees each.

Still single digits from Tuesday

According to a DWD spokesperson, it won’t stay this hot into the new year. “It will also be very mild on New Year’s Eve, but no longer in the 20-degree range,” he said. After which the temperatures should be more wintery again: “During the week, from Tuesday, it will return to single digits”.
