Record Store Day 2020 postponed due to coronavirus | NOW

The annual Record Store Day would take place on April 18 this year, but has been rescheduled for two months due to the corona virus, the organization reports Thursday. It is not yet known exactly how this will work out for Dutch record stores.

The day on which record stores worldwide are put in the spotlight now takes place on June 20.

“We think this is the best chance for stores around the world to have a profitable, successful Record Store Day, taking into account recommendations from physicians, scientists and the World Health Organization,” said a statement.

Esther Vollebregt, project manager of the Dutch Record Store Day, explains NU.nl.: “June 20 is in the middle of our festival season, so many artists will undoubtedly have other performances. As a result, we do not yet know exactly what the schedule will look like with the instores – the free record store performances – which take place every year during Record Store Day. We are going to look at that next week. “

“It is true that the record store is the most important part of Record Store Day, the large amount of exclusive releases which are only available at participating record stores that day will remain unchanged. “

This year the band DeWolff is the Dutch ambassador of Record Store Day 2020. Initially the band is supposed to perform in various record stores, but because concerts are planned abroad around the new date, that part cannot take place.

The first five thousand people who make a purchase at one of the participating record stores during Record Store Day will receive a special single from DeWolff with the numbers for free. Made It To 27 and Nothing’s Changing.
