The federal prosecutor’s office for the southern district of New York reported a pair of operations carried out against smugglers where More than 219,000 pirated items worth $1 billion were seized in Manhattan.
According to the prosecution bags, clothing, shoes and luxury products were seized that were in a couple of warehouses ready for distribution.
Two men were arrested during the large-scale operation.
The prosecution accuses them of selling this type of merchandise between January and October 20 of this year.
The accused were identified as Adama Sow, 38, and Abdulaj Jalloh, 48.
83,000 counterfeit items with a selling price of about $500 million were seized from Sow.
While 50,000 items were seized from Hallow.
Both are accused of trafficking in counterfeit goods.which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
