The health services were saddened by how millions of Americans traveled to their families for Thanksgiving. Experts warn that the worst is yet to come. “December, January and February are going to be tough times, I think even the toughest in the history of health care in our country,” Robert Redfield, the director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said yesterday.

According to Redfield, the total death toll in the US could reach 450,000 by February. In the meantime, several US states are warning of shortages of healthcare personnel and hospital beds. The situation is acute in California, among others. There the governor wants to impose a local lockdown. In regions where the number of beds in intensive care is still less than 15 percent, residents have to stay indoors.
