The highest number of bankruptcies since 2017 was registered in France. About this with reference to the Central Bank of the country reports “Economic News Agency”.
In 2023, the French regulator witnessed a record number of forced closures of private companies. In total we are talking about 55.5 thousand enterprises, which the Central Bank called a phenomenon “unseen since 2017”.
43% of the total number of bankruptcies were caused by companies engaged in construction and trade, that is, small businesses. Their closure was caused by a noticeable rise in prices in the country and an increase in interest rates.
The Central Bank also noted the fact that energy prices have risen, that is, financing many enterprises has become too expensive.
The Finnish authorities also previously reported the maximum number of bankruptcies by November 2023. We are talking about 3,293 cases of enterprise closure, which is the maximum of the past 25 years.
