Record high early voter turnout on the second day of 22nd general election advance voting

According to the National Election Commission, as of 3 p.m. on this day, 11,747,305 of the 44,280,011 voters nationwide participated in early voting.

To date, the early voting rate for this general election is 4.58 percentage points (p) higher than the last general election. As of 3 p.m. on the second day of advance voting for the 21st general election, the voter turnout was 21.95%.

This is a low figure compared to the 20th presidential election, which was the highest ever. Voter turnout was high at the beginning of the early voting the previous day, but dropped off at 10 a.m. During the last presidential election, the early voting rate as of 3 p.m. on the second day was 30.74%.

By region, Jeonnam recorded the highest voter turnout at 36.45%. Jeonbuk followed with 33.58% and Gwangju with 32.47%. Sejong (30.51%), Gangwon (28.52%), Seoul (27.26%), and Gyeongbuk (26.77%) showed higher voter turnouts than the national average.

Daegu remains the lowest in the country at 21.51%, followed by Jeju (24.45%), Gyeonggi (24.76%), Busan (25.14%), Ulsan (25.18%), Incheon (25.35%), Daejeon (25.44%), and Chungnam (25.44%). 26.10%), Gyeongnam (26.14%), and North Chungcheong Province (26.38%) had lower voter turnouts than the national average.

Early voting will be held at 3,565 polling places nationwide until 6 p.m. on this day. You can vote anywhere in the country, regardless of your address, if you have a resident registration card, driver’s license, or photo ID issued by a government office or public institution.
