Record for the ISM services index in October

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Growth in US service sector activity reached an unprecedented pace in October, the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) monthly survey showed on Wednesday.

The ISM services index rose to an unprecedented 66.7, after 61.9 in September, while economists polled by Reuters on average expected a much smaller increase to 62.0.

The sub-index of prices paid also set a record, at 82.9 from 77.5, as did new orders received by companies in the sector, at 69.7 last month, against 63.5 in September. .
