On the gaming platform Steam, 20,313,451 players were online at the peak time last weekend. That record is probably because many people stay at home because of the coronavirus, Steam owner Valve notes Twitter.
The 20 million people did not all play games at the same time. They were online, but 6.4 million of them were playing a game at the same time.
The most played game was Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Over a million people played this game simultaneously last weekend. Also Dota 2 (701,632 players) and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (515,050 players) were popular.
The previous record was reached a month ago, when the counter stood at almost nineteen million online players. The record for this is from 2018.
