The port of South Carolina (South Carolina Ports) marked a milestone in November in the framework of the recovery of world port activity, regarding the pandemic.
SC Ports handled 207,066 TEUs in its terminals containers from Wando Welch and North Charleston in November, an increase of 12% compared to the previous year.
And in fiscal year 2021, which began July 1, the port has handled more than 1 million TEUs.
The port authority report also details that SC Ports moved 114,899 dock containers, representing cargo boxes of any size, the month in question, 10% more than a year ago. In the fiscal year account there are 558,380 dock containers.
The authorities highlight SC Ports’ strategic position in the southeastern United States and describe it as advantageous for cargo owners, particularly global retailers. In fact, consumer demand remains healthy, seen with imports loaded up almost 13%.
