Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Indonesian Automobile Industries Association (Gaikindo) noted that domestic car sales in September 2022 had again set a record since early 2021.
That is, up to 99,986 units from the position in August 2022 which had been recorded at 96,956 units. This figure also increased from the September 2021 position which was recorded at 84,113 units.
Where, the national car sales recorded in the new year reached 90,000 units in August 2022. Meanwhile, throughout 2021, the highest national monthly sales, according to Gaikindo data, were in December, with 96,673 units. .

Data from Gaikindo shows that Toyota still dominates car sales this month with the number surpassing 30,000 units, followed by Daihatsu.
Here are the 5 largest domestic car sales in September 2022:
– Toyota + Lexus 33,530 units
– Daihatsu 18,781 units
– Honda 13,374 units
– Mitsubishi 9,457 units
– Suzuki 7,651 units.
In September 2021, Toyota also won domestic auto sales. In fact, referring to Gaikindo data released on Thursday (13/10/2022), Toyota’s sales last year were higher.
Noted, Toyota recorded sales of 34,122 units. And these are given only for Toyota, not merged with Lexus.
The second position is occupied by Daihatsu with recorded sales of 17,529 units in September 2021.
And, since the beginning of 2022, Daihatsu has consistently overshadowed Toyota’s position as the # 2 best-selling car in Indonesia.
Except for May 2022, Daihatsu must submit to Honda. At that time, Daihatsu could only sell 6,981 units, while Honda reached 8,114 units.
Astra sales
Meanwhile, total car sales of PT Astra International Tbk (Astra) were 56,022 units. Up from the August 2022 position which was recorded at 49,907 units.
Astra’s success in September 2022 is also a record. Where since the beginning of 2022 Astra’s car sales have stood at around 40 thousand units, except in May 2022 which dropped to 23,318 units.
Astra achieved its second highest sale this year in March 2022 with 54,712 units.
