Swedish carmaker Volvo Cars is calling for almost 2.2 million cars to be inspected, which were built between 2006 and 2019. This is due to possible seat belt problems.

This is due to possible problems with the seat belts. It is Volvo’s largest convening event of its kind, Reuters reported today. It will cover almost 13,900 cars in the Czech Republic.
Volvo car owners will have to come to the service centers S60, S60L, S60CC, V60, V60CC, XC60, V70, XC70, S80 and S80L. The carmaker stated that it was contacting the owners of the affected models. Inspection and repair are free. A spokesman for Volvo declined to say what the costs of Volvo would be.

The carmaker has not yet received information that the defect would cause an accident or injury. Convening for inspection is a precautionary measure to prevent any future difficulties.

The problem concerns a steel cable attached to the front seat belts. The cable may wear out over time under certain conditions, which will reduce the functionality of the belt, the carmaker said.
In the Czech Republic, the convening event concerns 13,885 cars manufactured between 2006 and 2019, said Petra Doležalová from Volvo Car Czech Republic. “All of these models were built on a previous-generation platform that is no longer in production,” she added. The convening event does not apply to any of the current models.
