1.39 million overnight stays, including 32% foreign overnight stays. These are the figures recorded by the Nîmes Métropole agglomeration for the 2023 tourist season (July-August). This is better than in 2022 (1.37 million overnight stays) and than in 2019 (1.29 million) , reference year before Covid. “This is a good vintage, because 52% of tourism stakeholders announce a similar or even better result for 2022, which was already a very good year,” indicates Franck Proust, LR president of Nîmes Métropole in Objective Gard.

The figures are particularly positive for Nîmes Grande Provence Méditerranée airport, which records attendance up 35% compared to the 2022 summer season with 115,000 passengers transported between June 1 and September 30. “In addition to being a structuring tool for the entire department, Nîmes airport represents 126 million euros in economic benefits for Occitanie,” recalls the president of the intercommunality. One euro invested in the airport generates 30 euros of spending per passenger in the region.”
