Three riders in the same second at the top of the general classification at the end of the fourth and final stage (Marsal-Thionville), this has never been seen before on the Tour de Moselle. At the end of three intense days, carried out at breakneck speed, it was finally Henri-François Renard-Haquin (CC Etupes) who registered his name on the list of winners of the 37th edition of the event organized by the CS Thionvillois, this Sunday. Having obtained, since Friday, better places than his competitors, the 20-year-old rider, originally from Haute-Marne, who has just completed his studies in hotel and catering, has thus beaten Clément Braz Alfonso (Philippe Wagner Cycling) and Eliot Pauchard (Hexagone-Corbas Lyon Métropole).
Winner of the Tour Agglo Bourg-en-Bresse in July, the rider from the Doubiste club signed his best victory of the season. “It’s incredible, I don’t really realize,” he says. “I was already there last year, but I was not at the level. This time, I’ve been feeling good for a while. » In the game from the first stage, between Escherange and Contz-les-Bains, Henri-François Renard-Haquin remained focused until the end to dispossess Nicolas Breuillard (AVC Aix-en-Provence) of the white jersey, who was on his shoulders since his success at the summit of Stromberg on Friday.
Lorenzo Marasco the most combative
“On my own, I couldn’t have done anything, we had a great team on this Tour de Moselle,” assures the successor of Jordan Labrosse, who joined the professional peloton this summer in the ranks of AG2R-Citroën. Indeed, CC Etupes finished like a cannonball, taking the final stage thanks to Simon Barran, the fastest of the last escapees from the Sunday meeting.
A meeting during which, once again, Lorenzo Marasco spared no effort. At the forefront during the first three stages, the Yussois from Team Macadam’s Cowboys was again this Sunday on roads he knows by heart. The Mosellan dominated the first Point Chaud in Lelling, then the second Grand Prix de la Montagne in Bambiderstroff before being elected super combative of the event and climbing onto the podium to don the yellow jersey dedicated to this classification.
“After being frustrated on Saturday, I wanted to be active and not wait for a sprint that was always random,” explains the Lorraine, particularly satisfied with his Tour de Moselle. “Being active until the end proves that I have reached a milestone. It shows that I have the canes, because there was a hell of a level. It’s positive. »
Mezzetta: “Never seen before! »
Lilian Tétart (ASPTT Nancy): “I’m glad I finished, because it was really hard. I felt the efforts of the first two days. It didn’t disconnect again, it ran at full speed today (Sunday). For me, the results are good: I managed to be in a few breakaways. I was an actor in the race, that’s what I wanted. »
Flavien Arnould (ASPTT Nancy): “We always want to do a little better. I may have gone to bed a little quickly during the first stage. I had a great day on Saturday and I’m a little disappointed to have missed the start in the first five kilometers of this last stage. But the strongest were in front. It was my third Tour de Moselle and it was the hardest, it never stopped. »
Daniel Mezzetta (director of the Tour de Moselle): “We saw a very fast pace over the three days: we exceeded the 45 km/h average, like the pros. Some will become one soon. Once again, we appreciate seeing the best amateurs come here. I was impressed. And we had suspense until the end: the first three who decide for places, it’s never seen before on the Tour de Moselle! »
