Sporting hosted and beat Barcelona, 4-1, in the 1st leg of the Champions League quarter-finals this Thursday, and is closer to the final four.
With the pavilion almost full, the lions even started to lose after a mid-range shot by Pau Bargalló, but then Nolito appeared. Sporting’s left-footer fired hard for the equalizer before the break.
The 2nd half belonged to Sporting, who managed to make it 2-1 again through Nolito, in a similar move to the first goal. Barça, who had not yet lost this season, showed many difficulties at the Pavilhão João Rocha, given the greater speed of Alejandro Domínguez’s team. Rafa Bessa, the Lions’ reinforcement this season, increased it to 3-1 and Verona closed the score alone against Sergi Fernández.
