Record-breaking Russian S-400 missile system shoots down Ukrainian fighter jet

KIEV – Missile system Russian S-400 reported to have broken records in the war in Ukraine after shooting down a Su-27Kiev fighter jet from a distance of 150 kilometers.

According to reports The Aviationistthe incident occurred during the second day of war, February 25, 2022. The advanced missile system was put into operation in Belarus and shot down a Ukrainian fighter jet over Kiev airspace.

The shot made the scene in the Kiev sky look like a meteor shower. The Ukrainian military did not confirm the incident, which if confirmed would set a record use of the S-400 in real war for the first time with such a long range.

According to the report, the Ukrainian Su-27 pilot who was killed was Colonel Oleksandr Oksanchenko, one of the world’s most famous pilots.

While not confirming the incident, in fact Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky posthumously awarded the pilot with the title “Hero of Ukraine”. The awarding of the title was announced by the Presidential Office through social media accounts on March 1, 2022.

“One of the best fighter pilots in the world, Colonel Oleksandr Oksanchenko, died in an aerial battle. He diverted enemy aircraft. President of Ukraine @ZelenskyyUa posthumously awarded Oksanchenko the title Hero of Ukraine. Rest in peace,” wrote the Office of the President of Ukraine via Twitter @PresidentofUkr on March 1, 2022

according to European Airshows In a post on his Facebook page, pilot Oksanchenko nicknamed “Grey Wolf” lost his life on Friday night when his fighter jet was shot down by Russia’s S-400 Triumf Air Defense Missile System.

The S-400 is considered one of the most advanced and powerful air defense systems in the world. This defense weapon has the ability to protect the airspace from almost any type of air attack, including drones, missiles, and even stealth fighter jets.

This missile system is capable of taking out almost any air target within a range of 400 km and can simultaneously strike 36 targets. The S-400 has four different types of missiles and has a range of between 40 km, 100 km, 200 km and 400 km.
