Record Breaking Payment for Electricity Usage in Southern Norway

Customers in southern Norway will be paid a full 70 øre/kWh at 2pm on Sunday, writes the industry website.

Never before have Norwegian customers been paid so much for using electricity. The old price record was 11.79 øre/kWh, which electricity customers were paid for one hour on 28 May this year.

In total, there will be 13 hours of negative electricity prices in the country. In Central Norway, Northern Norway and Western Norway, the lowest will be -6 øre/kWh, while Eastern and Southern Norway reach -70 øre/kWh as the lowest point.

This has thus been a good weekend for electricity customers in Norway.

At the start of the weekend, it was announced that Saturday would bring free electricity for several hours. Lots of sun leads to excess electricity in the UK. This results in very low prices in Norway.
