RIYADH: Last year, the number of domestic and foreign tourists who visited the tourist destinations in Saudi Arabia increased to 9.5 crore. Foreigners come to Saudi Arabia on Umrah, tourism and visitor visas. The figures are from the Saudi Tourism Authority. Visitors spent 18,500 crores in Saudi Arabia last year.
Since the announcement of the Vision 2030 plan, the number of visitors in the tourism sector has increased in Saudi Arabia in a short period of time. The reason for the achievement is that the conditions have been prepared for foreigners to reach Saudi Arabia quickly. Last year alone, 9.3 crore people visited Saudi tourism.
This includes those who arrived on visitor visas and traveled on domestic flights. Domestic and foreign tourists spent more than 18,500 crore riyals in Saudi Arabia last year. The tourism authority had conducted more than 80 promotional tours all over the world including India.
More than 500 agreements have been signed with leading travel and tourism companies and institutions. The tourism authority has more than 5,000 partners worldwide. The recently launched unified official platform, Nusuk, was a boon for pilgrims to be able to use it from abroad.
