“Record-breaking Eurovision 2021: 162 Million Live Viewers and 540 Million Social Media Views”

162 million people watched the two semi-finals and the final of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest live, announced the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the organizer of the contest.

This figure was obtained by collecting the data of 38 public broadcasters.

Therefore, the audience was one million more than last year.

On the other hand, the video of the Eurovision Song Contest on the social channels “TikTok”, “Twitter”, “Instagram” and “Facebook” was viewed almost 540 million times during the contest, or almost twice as much as last year.

It has already been reported that the semi-finals and final of the competition took place in Liverpool this year. Although according to the rules they have to be held in the previous year’s winning country, Ukraine won last year and because of the war going on there, the EBU decided to hold the semi-finals and the final in Great Britain, which came second.

This year, the Swedish representative Lorena won the final with the song “Tattoo”, but the representatives of Latvia – the group “Sudden Lights” with the song “Aijā” – did not enter the final.
