While we do not have an overview of the exact amounts within private shops, there is a fairly accurate overview within the context of vintage car auctions. Thanks to him, we know that the currently most expensive car auctioned in 2018 was one of a total of 36 Ferrari 250 GTOs produced. The new owner paid for it 48,405,000 dollars, roughly 1.075 billion crowns at the exchange rate at the time. However, the current record is slowly starting to shake at its foundations. As part of the RM Sotheby’s auction hall, on November 13, an amazing auction is going to be held Ferrari 330 LM/250 GTO with a racing pedigree that could reach the amount 60 million dollarsso almost 1.4 billion crowns.

During its competitive career, the beautiful car in the obligatory red paint completed, for example, the 1000-kilometer race at the Nürburgring (1962), where it won its class and finished second overall. In the same year, he also participated in the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans. It also became one of the few competition cars that Ferrari did not immediately sell into private hands, but was used by the Scuderia Ferrari factory team. One of the owners of the auctioned 250 GTO was also the former chairman of the American branch of the Ferrari Club of America (Ferrari Club of America).

Unlike most other 250 GTOs with a three-liter twelve-cylinder with an output of around 300 horsepower, this particular car received a four-liter V12 unit with approximately 390 horsepower. Virtually all documents are available for the car, including the described technical preparations for the aforementioned events at the Nürburgring and Le Mans and papers documenting the subsequent conversion from the 330 LM to the 250 GTO, which took place directly in Maranello.
