Kochi: More than 7,000 students from the state have come to Canada on study visas. A total of 7,236 students received Canadian student visas in a single intake through the foreign education consultancy Santamonica Study Abroad. History also marked the grand gathering of students held at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Kochi to raise awareness before traveling abroad. The pre-departure briefing has entered the Asia Book of Records and the India Book of Records as the largest event of its kind.
3328 girls and 3908 boys got visa in various courses. They will arrive in Canada in September. Most students are from Ernakulam district. Sadara Josi, a native of Paravur Kotuvalli, who is preparing to go to Canada for B.Sc. Computer Science, said that there is a great opportunity for students who want to study and work abroad.
This number of students going to another country at one time was considered as a record achievement. Asia Book of Records representative Vivek Nair announced the record. Jaspreet Kaur Gandhi handed over the records to Santa Monica CMD Denny Thomas Vattakunnel.
