This winter, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine regularly reports that the enemy has concentrated efforts in several directions in the Donetsk region, including Bakhmut, and is suffering significant losses there.

On February 4, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar stated that the occupying troops had concentrated all their forces on breaking through the Ukrainian defense of Bakhmut.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that “no one will hand over Bakhmut”. “We will fight as long as we can. We consider Bakhmut our fortress,” the president said. On February 8, in an interview with Le Figaro, Zelensky noted that if the Russians take Bakhmut, they will want to “go further.”

Since February 7, Russian troops have received tactical successes in battles near Bakhmut and Vuhledar in the Donetsk region and control the area near the main M-03 highway, which leads to Bakhmut, British intelligence informed. At the same time, the occupiers are suffering “particularly heavy losses” in the Ugledar region, the British Ministry of Defense added.
