At the end of the season, the roads of Liepāja and Valentīna Raļkeviča, Seidu Jahaija, Leandro Teiho and Abdulahi Alfa parted. The midfielders Teiho and Alfa helped the Liepaja players episodically, but Jahaija and Raļkevičs had more stable values for the team this year. Goalkeeper V. Although support midfielder Seidu Jahaija often went to the pitch this year with the captain of the Liepāja captain and demonstrated a decent performance of the leader, it is clear that the team had expected more from him, especially about the salary received by the Ghanaian footballer.
It is unofficially known that Vyacheslav Isayev will move from “RFS” to “Liepāja”, whose agreement with us has been in force for several months. V. Isajevs, 27 years old and 187 centimeters tall, can play in the position of both midfielder and center defender and is a highly valued player in Latvian football. He also had seven games and one goal scored for the Latvian national team.
“Liepāja” also has a contract with the center defender Marko Simičs for the next season, and if Seidina Kate remains in the team, there should be no vacancies in the position of center guards.
Already last week, “Liepāja” announced that the contract was extended with Dodo, Artūrs Karašauskas, Mārtiņš Ķigurs, Eduards Tīdenbergs, Vadim Žuļevs and Krišjānis Zviedrs.
The contract is also valid with Ingars Sarmi Stugli, but from the initially large Nigerian diaspora in Liepāja, only Hogans Ukpa will remain, who played little in the second half of the season, but proved to be useful in the future.
Talks are taking place with both Belarusian legionnaires – Valery Harbachik and Yevgeny Berjozkin.
Work will resume in January
Most of the players went home on Monday, with the exception of Nigerian footballers and Teiho, who have to complete travel formalities. Dodo, who founded the family in Latvia, has also remained on site.
In total, the club has a contract with 14 footballers, but negotiations with several are still ongoing, which could resume more intensively in a few days. Additions are sought in all positions except the goalkeeper’s line, but the number of potential newcomers could be 4-5 players. Next season’s application 30 places will also be filled with Liepaja Youth Academy players.
The team will resume work after the holiday on January 11, and there are currently plans to go to two training camps in the south of Europe in the pre-season plan, but the possible travel restrictions related to Covid-19 should be kept in mind.
