Reconstruction and Expansion of National Road No. 79 from Warsaw to Tarnobrzeg

National Road No. 79 leads from Piaseczno near Warsaw to Tarnobrzeg through Kozienice and Zwoleń. The over 134-kilometre route runs between two expressways S7 and S17. GDDKiA has just signed a contract for the design and expansion of the next section of the “country road” – between Ciepielów and Leipzig.

As part of the extension of DK79, a section of the road with a length of nearly 6.5 km will be modernized, but the Ciepielów bypass will also be built. This is another investment on the road between Warsaw and the border with the province. Świętokrzyskie. The extension is to be completed within 39 months from the date of its signing. This means that the completion of construction works along with obtaining the occupancy permit is expected in 2027.

What will the reconstruction of DK79 look like?

The new country no. 79 will have the parameters of the GP route, and the existing route will be adapted to these standards. There will be one carriageway with two traffic lanes, as well as roads to service the adjacent areas with sidewalks, pedestrian and bicycle routes and bus bays. Additionally, environmental protection and road traffic safety devices will be built.

The modernization works of the DK79 route are carried out in stages, covering sections from the border with Warsaw to the border with the province of Świętokrzyskie. In August 2022, the first section from ul. Energetyczna to Syrenka in Piaseczno. Design works on the second section up to the beginning of the Góra Kalwaria bypass are in progress, and program concepts are being carried out for the next three sections. The Góra Kalwaria bypass has been available to drivers since December 2019, while other sections are in various stages of preparation and implementation.
