New York City plans to close schools, restaurants and non-essential businesses in nine neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens.
The novel coronavirus pandemic has killed at least 1,034,396 people worldwide since the WHO office in China reported the onset of the disease in late December. “I propose to close all non-essential schools and businesses in nine neighborhoods on Wednesday, October 7,” Democratic Mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio, said Sunday during a press briefing. He stressed that he was waiting for the approval of State Governor Andrew Cuomo to confirm this decision.

Paris in a high alert zone, Bachelot in isolation
Faced with the progression of the Covid-19 epidemic, Matignon announced Sunday evening that Paris was going into “maximum alert zone”, synonymous with new restrictions. But the restaurants will be able to remain open with a reinforced sanitary protocol.

103-year-old woman survives Covid-19 in Mexico
A 103-year-old Mexican woman with severe chronic lung disease recovered from Covid-19 after being hospitalized for 11 days, according to the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS). Dona Maria has tested positive for the new coronavirus but does not however suffer from hypertension, diabetes or obesity, which are aggravating factors.
“This is what contributed to the success of his treatment,” IMSS said in a statement on Saturday.
