Jakarta – Monkeypox is a rare disease caused by the Monkeypox virus which belongs to the variola virus family (which also includes the smallpox virus). This disease was first discovered in monkeys in Central and West Africa, but can be transmitted to humans.

Although cases of humans infected with Monkeypox are rare, it is important to recognize the symptoms of this disease so that it can be detected and treated quickly. Here are the five main symptoms of Monkeypox.

1. Rash on the Skin

The first and most typical symptom of Monkeypox is the appearance of a rash on the skin. This rash usually starts as small spots which then develop into itchy bumps or blisters. The rash can appear all over the body, including the face, arms, legs and other parts of the body. This rash is similar to the rash that appears in cases of smallpox.

2. Fever and Headache

Fever is a common symptom that appears in people infected with Monkeypox. A high body temperature is often followed by a severe headache. Increased body temperature and fever symptoms may be a sign that the body is fighting against Monkeypox virus infection.

When infected with Monkeypox, the lymph nodes under the skin usually swell. This can cause pain or discomfort in the area around the affected lymph nodes. Swollen lymph nodes are the body’s response to infection and an attempt to clear the virus from the body’s system.

4. Fatigue and Weakness

Monkeypox can also cause extreme fatigue and physical weakness. Monkeypox virus infection can put pressure on the immune system, which can cause prolonged fatigue and reduce the sufferer’s energy.

5. Digestive Symptoms

Some cases of Monkeypox can also cause digestive symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. This is an additional symptom that may occur along with the main symptoms of this disease. Indigestion usually lasts for several days and can worsen the patient’s condition.
