Symptoms: this is how you recognize pneumonia in your child
Last week was the first time in three years that so many children between the ages of 5 and 14 visited the doctor with pneumonia: eighty per 100,000 Dutch people. Last year there were sixty.
Research institute Nivel has seen an increase in the number of children with pneumonia since July 31 this year. It remains unclear why so many children suffer from pneumonia. Nivel late to NU.nl that they only keep the numbers, but do no further research. The RIVM cannot explain the increase either.

In most cases, pneumonia is not dangerous and your child is not very ill. Pneumonia is serious if your child suddenly becomes very ill, with a fever higher than 39 degrees and rapid or labored breathing. Always call your doctor if your child has symptoms of pneumonia.
