At the same time, Gao Kan focuses on legal theoretical research in the field of film and television culture. In 2017, he completed a monograph of more than 600,000 words, “Film and Television Entertainment Law”, which was published by Tsinghua University Press. This is also the first legal monograph in the field of film and television entertainment published in China since the “Film Industry Promotion Law of the People’s Republic of China” was officially implemented.
From the perspective of the film and television industry, this monograph elaborates on the development process of the film and television industry in various countries. Starting from the comparison of international theories of film and television laws and the analysis of domestic practices, it analyzes the aspects involved in script creation, acting agency, filming and production, publicity and distribution, and screening and broadcasting. The legal issues and risks were analyzed, and the legislative gaps involving the film and television industry were analyzed. By interspersed with the analysis of domestic judicial cases, suggestions were put forward to fill the legal gaps, which received widespread attention and praise from the industry.
