Recognized Cuban Artists Share Stories at Piña Colada Festival in Ciego de Ávila

Recognized faces of art in Cuba came to educational institutions in the province of Ciego de Ávila, where the XXI edition of the Piña Colada Festival takes place, to share joys and anecdotes about their professions.

The talented actors Denys Ramos and Flora Borrego captivated the students of Pablo Elvio Secondary School with stories linked to that passion that makes them fall in love every day and shakes them from the depths of their soul. In a warm climate, where there was no shortage of laughter and the desire to immortalize the meeting, they expressed their concerns about the universe that surrounds the performing arts, until then unknown to them.

Ramos recalled his beginnings in acting when at the age of 10 he joined the cast of the play Yerma, by Federico García Lorca, with the “Olga Alonso” Theater Group. In turn, he announced that he will play Yarini, the most famous pimp in Havana, in a staging by Teatro El Público.

Meanwhile, Borrego, who enjoys popularity thanks to the character of Adriana in the novel Unfinished Business, added that he resumed his work on stage, “I have many expectations and fear at the same time, because there the relationship with the public is different.”

The young actress declared herself passionate about comedy, precisely one of the projects on her agenda is the third season of the series Together but not scrambled, which will be recorded soon.

Both shared details about the recording process, their experiences on the scene and with the other actors, as well as the audience’s reaction when they met them.

While the actors Bárbaro Marín and Belissa Cruz, accompanied by the Iris Duo, appeared at the University of Medical Sciences. There, they shared their projects and experiences in the artistic environment with future doctors and the teaching community. Meanwhile, Marín performed a song of his own dedicated to his former wife, actress Tahimi Alvariño.

At the end, everyone enjoyed the talent and sweet voice of the Iris Duo, those harmonies that invite you to dream and love even in the most complex times, paraphrasing the eternal Gabo, even in the times of cholera.

Until next Sunday, notable exponents of sound art in the country and others from Panama, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico merge musicality in this city and in the municipality of Morón, sub-headquarters of this great cultural festival.
