Harianjogja.com, JAKARTA – The coronavirus vaccine offers substantial protection against COVID-19, but you can still catch the viral disease after being vaccinated.
New data published on the UK’s ZOE COVID Symptom Study app shows that COVID-19 symptoms are present only in “vaccinated people”.
The coronavirus vaccine provides two benefits in virus prevention. First, they reduce the severity of the disease in the affected person, and make the virus less contagious to others. However, vaccines don’t stop you from contracting COVID-19.
According to new data published by the ZOE COVID Symptom Study app, the world’s largest ongoing COVID-19 study, sneezing more than usual can be a sign of COVID-19 in people who have been vaccinated.
As the research team explains, sneezing is usually not a symptom of COVID-19, and is more likely to be a sign of a common cold or allergies.
“Although many people with COVID-19 may sneeze, it is not a definite symptom because sneezing is very common, especially in warmer months where people may have a fever,” the research team said.
However, research application data suggest that people who have been vaccinated and then test positive for COVID-19 are more likely to experience sneezing as a symptom compared to those who have not been injected.
This suggests that a lot of unexplained sneezing after you’ve been vaccinated could be a sign of COVID-19.
“If you’ve been vaccinated and start sneezing a lot without explanation, it’s best to stay home and get tested for COVID, especially if you live or work around people who are at greater risk of contracting the disease,” advises the app researcher’s COVID Symptom Study.
“However, it is important to remember that the link between sneezing and COVID-19 is not so strong that you should remain alert to the 20 symptoms of the disease, whether you have been vaccinated or not, where symptoms include:
1. High temperature (fever)
2. Shiver
3. Cough continuously
4. Loss or changes in smell (anosmia)
5. Loss or change of taste (dysgeusia)
6. Headache
7. Unusual fatigue (fatigue)

13. Shortness of breath
14. Chest pain

16. Hoarse voice

18. It’s hard to eat
