In the last commemoration of Labor Day in the current administration, thousands of workers and union organizations took to the streets to demand that they remained in the freezer the reforms that reduce the working day from 48 to 40 hours and to double the bonus, and also warned of the absence of labor issues on the agendas of the three presidential candidates.

From the stand installed in front of the National Palace, representatives of different unions recognized that although there has been progress with the labor reform, they pointed out that now the fight is for the improvement of contractual salaries and the reduction of taxes on salaries and benefits. On this occasion there were two contingents divided; one column started from the vicinity of the Palace of Fine Arts and another from the Monument to the Revolution; Both mobilizations converged in the Zócalo of Mexico City and, according to the capital authorities, approximately 80 thousand workers participated.

At the rally, which lasted around two hours, the tone was the repudiation of Congress for postponing, for pressure from the bosses, the reforms that reduce the working day and the one that doubles the bonus. The leader of the Mining Union, Senator Napoleón Gómez Urrutia, called for the unity of workers and union organizations, because on the eve of a political change in the country, We must all together demand that there be greater will and commitment to meet the demands and needs of all workers.

He highlighted that in the recent five years, 160 legislative initiatives have been endorsed by the Senate, as well as the publication of 15 constitutional reforms, which They are much more than those that were approved together during the seven previous governments.

On the occasion, José Humberto Gual, general secretary of the Union Association of Aviator Pilots, pointed out that Mexico is experiencing a historic moment in the face of the electoral process that is underway and warned that workers do not want speeches, but actions.

He pointed out that No candidate for the Presidency has wanted to take the message of the workers. Therefore, he continued, It is our obligation to warn of the risks that come in this electoral process, we ask you to tell us well, we are not few and we will see you at the polls.

Pedro Hernández Morales, secretary general of section 9 of the CNTE, recalled that a month ago they resumed dialogue with the federal government and pointed out that five central demands of the teaching profession are on the table, among them the commitment to reinstate 176 teachers on Next May 8th.
