Recognition of Indonesian pilot bringing illegal rifles from Philippines for Papuan organizations

Indonesian Citizen Pilot (WNI), Anthony Gobay, was arrested by the Philippine authorities for illegal carrying of firearms (senpi). It appears that the gun was intended to support the Papuan organization’s activities.

Information about arrests Anthony Philippine authorities earlier passed Gobay on to reporters by National Police Public Relations Division Chief Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo on Monday (9/1/2023). The National Police conducted an investigation with the Philippine Police regarding this case.

“The perpetrators could not show firearms possession documents or they were illegal. So they were arrested by local police for further proceedings,” Dedi said.

Dedi also revealed the origins of the guns carried by Anton Gobay. According to him, Anton Gobay bought the gun in the Danao City area.

“AG purchased weapons from someone using an alias in the Danao City, Cebu Province area,” Dedi Prasetyo told reporters on Wednesday (11/1/2023).

Dedi said Anton Gobay was carrying ten long-barrelled M4 rifles with no ammunition. The long-barreled shotgun is said to be worth 50 thousand pesos or Rp. 14 million.

“In the form of 10 caliber (5.56 mm) M4-type long-barreled rifles, worth 50,000 pesos, without ammunition,” he said.

In addition, Dedi said there were two 9mm short-barreled Ingram rifles out of ammunition. The price of the short-barreled pistol is said to be as high as 45,000 pesos.

“(There are) two short-barreled (9mm) Ingram rifles, worth 45,000 pesos, with no ammunition,” he said.
