Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj continues to rely on diplomatic means in the Ukraine war to regain the Crimean peninsula annexed by Russia.
Kiev – Russia has been waging a war of aggression against Ukraine since February 2022 and continues to occupy parts of the country. The fighting continues. president Wolodymyr Selenskyj expresses a clear stance on reclaiming the Cream. Russia annexed the peninsula in 2014 in violation of international law.
In an interview with Fox News Zelensky stressed that the return of Crimea must be done through diplomatic channels: “We cannot sacrifice dozens, thousands of our people to die for the return of Crimea… we understand that Crimea can be retaken through diplomatic channels,” Zelensky added added: “I have already mentioned that we are ready to retake Crimea through diplomatic channels.”

When asked whether Ukraine would give up territory for a peace deal, Zelensky said: “We cannot legally recognize any occupied territory in Ukraine as Russian. This affects the areas… the Putin before the large-scale invasion since 2014. Legally we don’t recognize it, we don’t take it on.”
After the US release of long-range weapons: Zelenskyj calls for calm
After Kiev’s use of long-range Western weapons, Moscow spoke of escalation and threatened retaliation. Zelensky has called on the population not to spread panic. “The informational boost that happened today, the panicked messages that were sent, all of that only helps Russia,” he said in his evening video message. Russia is of course a “crazy neighbor,” but this applies just as much to the 1001st day of the war as it did to every other day of the war before. The Ukrainians, on the other hand, should not allow themselves to be driven crazy – the anti-aircraft defense will be further strengthened, he said.

Ukraine war: Fears about Russian escalation after use of Western weapons
Zelensky made his statements against the backdrop of the closure of some embassies in Kiev, which had fueled unrest among the population. There are growing concerns among many people in Ukraine that Russia could escalate the war again after media reports say Ukraine has used long-range Western weapons against Russian territory. Moscow had already massively fired missiles at Kiev over the weekend, even before Ukraine is said to have attacked Russia with ATACMS missiles for the first time.
