Reckless Drivers Suspended and Car Confiscation Advocated After High-Speed Accident on West Access Freeway

In a recent incident on the West Access Freeway, two individuals driving a modified vehicle at high speed caused a car accident. The ANSV (National Road Safety Agency) and the Buenos Aires Ministry of Transportation have acted quickly by suspending the licenses of these individuals and advocating for the confiscation and compaction of the wrecked car. The objective is to donate the metal resulting from the scrap to the Garrahan Hospital.

Video surfaced yesterday showing a traffic accident on Acceso Oeste caused by the reckless behavior of two men driving a tuned car at excessive speeds. To avoid colliding with the vehicle ahead, they ended up overturning. Since the incident was not immediately reported to the police by the motorway authorities, those responsible managed to remove the car from the scene. The incident came to light hours later due to the circulation of viral video images.

After receiving information about the incident, the ANSV, together with the Ministry of Transportation of Buenos Aires, acted quickly. The driver and his passenger, identified as Andrés Sacchi and Carlos Alvarado, 40 and 36 years old respectively, and residents of Ituzaingó, have been suspended for their extremely reckless behavior, which could have resulted in loss of life.

It was also revealed that the vehicle was operating without a valid Vehicle Technical Verification. Consequently, both the National Ministry of Transportation and its counterpart in Buenos Aires will formally submit a request to the involved traffic court to seize and then compact the wrecked vehicle. The intention is to donate the metal resulting from the scrap to the Garrahan Hospital.

Why is it risky to tune a car

The practice of modifying vehicles involves custom alterations to the mechanics, interior, and exterior. Although this practice is often used to give the vehicle a unique look different from its original state, making modifications beyond the limits established at the factory can pose significant risks.

By tampering with safety components, a vehicle can lose its inherent safety features, rendering it ineffective in responding to dangerous situations.

How to report cases of road violence

To report incidents of road violence, the ANSV has established a WhatsApp line at number 011-6207-0590, which allows citizens to submit their reports along with identifying evidence. Reports can also be made through the ANSV’s social media accounts under the name “InfoSegVial” or by email to comunicacion@seguridadvial.gob.ar.

The suspension follows the directive 384/2020 issued by the ANSV, which allows the temporary suspension of National Driver’s Licenses for drivers who present deficient driving skills and represent a serious threat to road safety.
