Environment Senator Jens Kerstan has educational partner Dr. Chris Baudy certified again for his exemplary communication, education and networking work in the extracurricular area.

Sustainable and North German (NUN) – Secure the future with education “is the motto of the quality development and certification program for non-school teachers who provide their learners with skills and abilities that are important for the future-oriented design of our living environment. It’s about “Education for Sustainable Development” (ESD). This educational concept combines classic environmental education and social justice.

NUN-LogoDr. Chris Baudy, freelance journalist, educational author and member of the steering group of HARBURG21, is one of them. Baudy had already received the NUN certificate from the Senator for the Environment, Jens Kerstan, for the first time in 2015. In 2020 it was that time again.

So far, Baudy remains the only NUN-certified person in the Harburg district and is looking forward to further, diverse educational adventures. The agency for the environment, climate, energy and agriculture (BUKEA,) is responsible for the certification process. It is open to all actors, institutions and centers with an ESD focus. The Hamburg office is part of the SOF Save our Future – environmental foundation. She carries out the quality assurance and labeling procedure on behalf of BUKEA and is happy to advise interested parties.

Background information:

The initiator of the NUN certification is the North German partnership in support of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development 2005-2014, to which Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein belong.

In a printed paper from March 2011, the Hamburg city council decided to introduce the NUN quality development and certification process in the Hanseatic city by 2014 as well. In the same year, the first educational actors held their NUN award certificates in their hands.
