The Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) recognized a group of men and women of outstanding revolutionary work, with the delivery of the orders Mariana Grajales and Ana Betancourt, the Distinction 23 de Agosto and the commemorative stamp Anniversary 60 of the FMC, in the Museum of the Revolution, in Havana.
In the presence of the members of the Political Bureau Lázara Mercedes López Acea and Teresa Amarelle Boué, general secretary of the organization, professionals from various sectors of life were honored for their meritorious work both in the Federation and outside it.
That is the case of Xiomara Quiñones Martínez, recipient of the Mariana Grajales Order, who summarized her feeling in the happiness of living in Cuba, a country of dignified women capable of assuming any task.
Meanwhile, the “Ana Betancourt” fell to Rosa María Chaviano González and Irma Dora Álvarez Acosta, both willing to continue working in terms of the development and improvement of the country and the FMC.
Such incentives are granted to citizens whose work in any sphere constitutes an exceptional sample of revolutionary or internationalist attitude, due to their contributions to the formation of new generations, to the achievement of the full insertion of women in society and the defense of the Homeland. , in accordance with Decree-Law 30, of December 10, 1979.
Likewise, the August 23 Distinction, for his 20 years or more of tenure and outstanding career in the ranks of the organization, was awarded to Martha Ayala, Minerva Valdez, Marcia Fernández, Aracelis González, Caridad Peña, Osmayda Hernández and Elpidia Moreno.
For the latter it is a great honor to receive it precisely when the Federation reaches its first 60 years, which commits it to continue working, contributing, not only from the national leadership as an official, but from the delegations, communities and blocks, he assured.
More than thirty men and women received the FMC’s 60th Anniversary commemorative stamp in the same setting, established in an extraordinary way in 2020 to recognize people with a consistent attitude and commitment to the Revolution and, especially, in the confrontation with COVID-19, from any front.
Among those deserving of the stimulus are the athlete Yipsi Moreno, the singer Omara Portuondo, the journalist Arleen Rodríguez Derivet, the Deputy Minister of Public Health Marcia Cobas, and the Deputy Prime Minister of Transportation Marta Oramas.
Sonia Beretervide Dopico, another of those recognized with the seal, described her years as a professional cadre of the organization as a school in the personal and revolutionary spheres; The privilege of having been so close to Vilma Espín is a commitment to continue and not to drop the work achieved, he said.
The event was also chaired by Gladys Bejerano, Comptroller General of the Republic; Ana María Mari Machado, vice president of the National Assembly of People’s Power; Brigadier General Delsa Esther Puebla and Gerardo Hernández, member of the Council of State and national coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution.
The Federation of Cuban Women was founded on August 23, 1960 and constitutes a maximum expression of unity, a genuinely Cuban organization that brings together women who voluntarily decide to do so, without discrimination of any kind.
