Libreville, Monday, May 29, 2023 (Gabon Info) – The Gabonese president paid tribute to his Turkish counterpart re-elected for a new five-year term.
The second round of the presidential election organized yesterday May 28, 2023 resulted in the re-election of Recep Tayyip Erdogan. At 69, the outgoing president was declared the winner by the Electoral Commission by obtaining 52.1% of the vote, against 47.9% for his opponent Kemal Kiliçdaroglu, after counting nearly 99.7% of the vote.
Following this brilliant victory, the Gabonese president offered him his congratulations. “I congratulate President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on his re-election. Turkey is a great country, endowed with a great culture, and an important partner for Gabon. Economy, diplomacy… We will continue in the future to intensify our bilateral relations at all levels,” wrote Ali Bongo Ondimba.
